I incorporated the Nautical theme into the invitation design and turned the card stock into a sailboat itself and used a navy and white striped envelope liner to complete the look!
Since Dave and I held our wedding in Arizona in my hometown, we held a second party in Maryland this month to include all of his friends and family who couldn’t make the trip west. We held the party in Annapolis on Whitehall Creek bordering the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Given the location – a nautical theme was inevitable. I turned the invitations into mini sail boats in the navy blue and red palette and created a navy and white striped envelope liner to compliment the style. Michelle at Land & Sea Catering was a huge help in pulling off this party only 5 weeks after the wedding in Arizona! She incorporated model sail boats, life savers, and fishing nets into the table and bar decor and used blue and white striped table linens and red accents to pull everything together. I really wanted this party to reflect it’s Maryland location the way the wedding in Arizona captured the desert venue. We served Maryland Style crab cakes along with bacon wrapped scallops and swapped a traditional cake for a strawberry shortcake bar – perfect for summer!
We used Crate & Barrel tea light torches to line the entrance to the party
Guests enjoyed the water view lounging on Adirondack chairs overlooking the dock
Guests were served Vodka Lemonades with Muddled Fresh Berries as they arrived – great for a summer evening!
We used Fish Netting and Nautical Life Savers to dress up the bar
Nautical Props enhanced the party theme and the striped table linens reflected the invitation design

Everyone enjoyed spending the evening outside!
Enjoying the summer night on the water!
A local band setup on the patio to play for the guests – the party continued on an ipod long after they said goodnight!
We used candle-lit lanterns and tiki torches to light the party once the sun went down

Thanks Melissa!
Your invitatations are great – would you be willing to share where you got them or if they are handmade (as I suspect) how you did them – especially the printing? Thanks!
