I’m Meredith!

If I had a glass of wine in hand, I’d propose a toast…  “To my first MJ Paperie blog post… ‘Getting to know me!’”  I’m Meredith — the “M” in MJ Paperie — and I happen to be 8 months pregnant holding a 21 month old rather than a glass of champagne, but “CHEERS!”…here’s to getting to know all of you and sharing lots of fun ideas in the future!

    You may have heard…

“When life hands you lemons, squeeze them into sweet iced tea and thank God you were born a southern girl!”

That’s me in a nutshell. I was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas where “Yes Ma’am’s” and “No Sir’s” are part of everyday lingo and where prompt thank-you notes go without saying. Manners are part of the famous southern charm. Oh, and I forgot… hair bows! Big bows that sit right on top of your head like an extra body part. Growing up in the south fueled my obsession with ribbons, bows and all such girlie things.

In Texas, cheerleading is the only sport that trumps football — so it’s no surprise that I cheered throughout high school and college at the University of Notre Dame (luckily on the cheer squad I could pull off a high ponytail and matching bow despite living in the Midwest). I was also lucky enough to meet my husband Dan at Notre Dame. We tied the knot in 2008 and had our first baby boy, Johnny, shortly after. We are so excited to have a baby girl due next month! (Finally — I can buy dresses…with bloomers!) I realize how much I have to be thankful for and how many things in life inspire me. Hopefully you’ll come to appreciate my southern values and sense of style very soon…

    Cheers!

    Meredith
