Will you be my bridesmaid?

A Bridesmaid Cookie Confection!

I must say I have had the honor of being a bridesmaid in several weddings over the past 6 years… childhood and college friends, sisters-in-law, etc.  Each time I heard “Will you be my bridesmaid?” I was beyond excited!  About a month ago, however, I didn’t hear it…I opened it! When this arrived at my door from Jess, I thought “HOW CUTE!” (Oprah thinks so too! She’s featured the cookie boutique in O Magazine).

I absolutely love the presentation – from the polka-dot box with grosgrain ribbon, to the cute note on top, to the ribbon attached to the cookie dress!

These delicious goodies are crafted at a cookie boutique in Ambler, Pennsylvania called “The Flour Pot.” (I love the clever name by the way!)  They have the most adorable cookies to use as party favors, welcome-bag goodies and holiday treats. Check out their site for the latest “Spooky… but Sweet!” Halloween cookies that are now available.

Abbey, from the Flour Pot, delivers her confections anywhere in the country so you can ask your maid of honor, bridesmaids, ring bearers and flower girls in a truly memorable (and tasty) way! She sent over these great items, as well. We love these round monogrammed cookies – especially the custom calligraphy in the initials. These would be an amazing addition to a dessert table or a cookie favor for any celebration.

In case you’re wondering… I said YES!

These make great cookie favors for your guests!

Cookie dresses come in an assortent of colors and styles!

Fashion Week in New York!

Fashion Week lands in Lincoln Center this Fall

It’s that time of the year again – Fashion Week in New York City! I was lucky enough to have a seat at “Fashion’s Night Out — The Show” which officially kicked off the move from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center for the semi-annual fashion extravaganza in NYC. The show was produced by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Spec Entertainment and did not disappoint as 150+ models paraded through the circled runways of the Lincoln Center plaza after being led by the world’s top supermodels — Gisele, Naomi, Karolina — on a classic New York City Double Decker tour bus and onto the stage.

Here come the models!

Dave and I loved attending the big show!

Fashion Week draws hundreds of thousands of people to the city of New York and generates close to a billion dollars of revenue during it’s ten-day span. It’s a great way for up and coming designers as well as legendary fashion houses to make a statement for themselves. These designers didn’t stop at the clothes – the invitations to their runway shows made bold statements as well. I loved this countdown of the “12 Coolest Fashion Week Invites” from Refinery 29 – a daily fashion newsletter and online fashion hub.

“The best of the bunch includes fantastical dioramas (Tommy Hilfiger), delicate macaroons (Honor), and a pencil-and-paper set that we can’t wait to use (Hexa by Kuho)” – Refinery 29

Even top designers can appreciate the impact of receiving a formal, hand-crafted, well-styled invitation in the old-fashioned mailbox – not just the electronic one!

Blue – Not just for Boys…

Love the DIY Rose Pillow…so easy!

As soon as the ultrasound tech said “It’s a girl!” my mind immediately began racing with nursery ideas. Finally a girl! It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the plethora of cute, girly patterns to work with…

What colors or patterns would I choose? Pink? Yellow? Floral? Polka Dots? Paisley? Stripes?

Then I came across these cute, elegant pattern combos from Design *Dump, a blog dedicated to fabulous designs and décor inspiration. I knew immediately — Ding ding ding… PINK AND NAVY BLUE were my colors! I loved how the pink and navy blue shades using different patterns complemented each other so well when used across different elements of the nursery. And who said blue was just for boys?  Throw some baby pink in there and you’ve got one precious combo. All of the patterns I love most in one shebang… dots, lattice, damask, floral… and check out the fantastic do-it-yourself rose pillow (above). I also LOVE the antique, Blue Italian-esque dishes on the wall found from a variety of resale shops. It’s vintage and chic, warm and cozy all at the same time. These images showcase the basic inspiration for my upcoming birth announcement and nursery décor!

I love the way the lamp shades tie the lighting into the overall theme!
